
Potato gratin with cheese sauce
Ingredients for 4 servings:
6 medium-sized potatoes
50 g butter
60 g flour
1 teaspoon mustard powder
200 ml milk
250 g cheddar cheese
salt and pepper
Preparation:
- Peel the potatoes, slice them thinly, and arrange them in a baking dish.
- Prepare the sauce. Melt the butter in a pan, then add the flour and fry it for about 2 minutes. Gradually add the milk, stirring constantly, and season with salt, pepper, and mustard powder. When the mixture becomes smooth and thickens, add the grated cheese and stir until the cheese is melted.
- Pour the cheese sauce over the potatoes, cover the dish with foil, and bake in a preheated oven at 200°C for 50 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for another 20–30 minutes until the top is nicely browned.
