Zucchini fries with cheese sauce
Ingredients for 3 servings:
Zucchini fries:
2 medium zucchini
2 lightly beaten eggs
40 g flour
80 g panko breadcrumbs
1 tsp paprika
½ tsp garlic powder
Pinch of salt, pepper
Oil spray
For the cheese sauce:
30 g butter
1 tbsp flour
200 ml milk
120 g grated cheddar cheese
½ tsp mustard
Pinch of salt, pepper
½ tsp ground nutmeg
Parsley for serving
Preparation:
- Cut the zucchini into long sticks, mix with the spices — paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper, then coat in flour, egg, and panko. Preheat the air fryer to 200 °C, spray the zucchini with oil and cook for 12–15 minutes until golden brown.
- Meanwhile, prepare the cheese sauce — melt butter in a saucepan, add flour and cook for 1 minute, stirring. Gradually pour in the milk, stirring to prevent lumps. When the sauce thickens, add the grated cheddar cheese and stir until melted. Add mustard, salt, and pepper.
- Serve the zucchini fries with cheese sauce, sprinkled with chopped parsley.
