Cauliflower wings
Ingredients for 2–4 servings:
2 medium heads of cauliflower
180 g wheat flour
300g milk
1 teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon salt
180 g breadcrumbs
For the sauce:
2 tablespoons oil
10 garlic cloves, finely chopped
2 teaspoons fresh grated ginger
160 g soy sauce
100 g honey or maple syrup
4 tablespoons water
2 tablespoons toasted sesame oil
2 tablespoons rice vinegar
2 teaspoons sriracha sauce
2 teaspoons cornstarch
2 teaspoons water (for mixing with starch)
Preparation:
- Cut the cauliflower into medium-sized pieces.
- In a large bowl, mix the flour, milk, garlic powder, and salt until smooth.
- Dip the cauliflower pieces into the batter, coating them thoroughly, then roll them in breadcrumbs.
- Place the cauliflower pieces in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Cook at 190 °C for 10–13 minutes until golden and crispy.
- While the cauliflower is cooking, prepare the sauce. In a saucepan with oil, sauté the chopped garlic until lightly golden, then add the ginger and cook for another 1–2 minutes.
- Add the soy sauce, honey, water, sesame oil, rice vinegar, and sriracha, and mix well. Simmer the mixture until it begins to caramelize. Mix water with cornstarch and add it to the sauce, cooking briefly until it thickens. Remove from heat.
- Pour the sauce over the crispy cauliflower and enjoy!
